Another link to this diagram so any American internet user won’t doubt of the relevance to spare energy with their monitor.

I found a marvelous blog about energy saving. Many topics with strong facts. Including about monitors. The brighter they get, the more energy it takes. One damn interesting advice:

Right click on your desktop or background, go to properties>appearance tab>advanced. Now select “window” in the list and select a light gray color instead of white.

Maybe I’ll get something nicer than grey…

And also because of all this, I decided to sacrifice my design sense and my mostly-white template to pick this mostly black template I like a little less. So, as you’ll come here, you’ll waste less energy. Not coming on this blog and talking a walk to the park would be even better for the environment.

This is an ongoing human security project which maintains and updates the world’s only independent and comprehensive public database of media-reported civilian deaths in Iraq that have resulted from the 2003 military intervention by the USA and its allies. The count includes civilian deaths caused by coalition military action and by military or paramilitary responses to the coalition presence (e.g. insurgent and terrorist attacks).

Now that’s volunteering… !!

On a recent survey, 59% of Quebecers consider themselves too tolerant about the religious needs of the immigrants. Obviously, tolerance is not the best word here… Tolerance is about mind, not action.

We Quebecers like to say yes with our mouth and no in our mind. That’s our understanding of tolerance. Also, 92% of Quebecers consider themselves very or enough welcoming with immigrants.

I don’t think there is any other place in the world more welcoming than Quebec. But when it’s about understanding those other cultures and realities, we’re more dunce than leaders.

Yeah, cloned food won’t be labelled but even so that’s pretty good news for the bio food industry.

We kill their former leader to show them how civilized we are how things are going to improve as we are bringing this wonderful civilization in this barbarian land.

The société de transport de Montréal holds a contest where anyone could publish his or her poetry in the subway network. Poetry and public transportation, that’s a nice mix, even if I prefer the concept of Trois-Rivières with its poems on buildings. That’s what I call urbanism. The city is the official National Poetry Capital of Quebec, even if their Festival of Poetry sucks.

Does the UN Security Council sincerely expect to curb terrorist treats by punishing Iran to try to build up nuclear plants while Israel has nuclear weapons ? Does the UN Security Council really think they can obtain global security without global justice ?

Through the 21st century, could the nuclear waste be a bigger treat than any nuclear bomb ?

Could we see a world with a global ban on nuclear weapons (yeah, even the USA) ? Could we see a global ban on nuclear power plants ?

Right now, 50% of the US’s electricity come from coal and 20% from natural gas or petroleum. If we add the 20% coming from nuclear power, only 10% of the energy comes from a suitable, clean source.

Should the US increase their nuclear production to fight global warming ?

Relationship experts report that too many couples fail to ask each other critical questions before marrying.

9) Have we reached a clear understanding of each other’s spiritual beliefs and needs, and have we discussed when and how our children will be exposed to religious/moral education?

14) If one of us were to be offered a career opportunity in a location far from the other’s family, are we prepared to move?

Bloody good article…

Why should Rona Ambrose be fired as she did exactly what her party told her to do ? Because the Conservative party would like to make Canadians believe they will do better on environment in 2007 ?

Sometimes, I wonder how many of us, if left into the wild, would try to kill an animal instead of just picking up vegetables.

As I don’t think I would try to slaughter anything, why do I buy meat ? Because someone else killed and cleaned it for me ?

I know some of us wouldn’t bother because hunting is still a popular activity… But I really don’t know how many would give up meat out of the civilization…

I never had to go into it, but I saw the Père-Marquette high school countless times on Rosemont boulevard. I’m always sad to lose a part of my city, even if the building wasn’t cute at all. Will they build it again ? There, elsewhere ? On the good side, it’s a nice Christmas gift for a lot of teens to see their school burning.

Also, who is Père Marquette ?

An overweight passenger has sued Air France after being told he was too fat and had to pay for a second seat to accommodate his bulk.

Jean-Jacques Jauffret, a French scriptwriter, told Reuters Wednesday he had felt humiliated by Air France staff who had measured his waist in public at New Dehli airport in 2005 and decided he was too big for a single seat.

Ok, so the trial will be less humiliating, Jean-Jacques ?

Cuban President Fidel Castro is apparently very ill and close to death.

I wonder what the US will do once he’s gone ? Invade CUBA ?
