What kind of link can we make between the 33 casualties at Virginia Tech and the 60 000+ casualties in Irak since 2003 ?

Shiite families mourned Monday the slaughter of dozens of pilgrims in a Baghdad bomb attack that exposed the limits of a month-old security sweep through the Iraqi capital by local and US forces.

How can Muslim integrists plan to kill Muslim pilgrims ?

Pilgrims… !!

Albertan’s oil sands has been mentioned by Al-Qaeda as a target.

How ironic it would be if terrorists financed by wealthy members of the oil industry in the Middle-East would attack Canadian oil industry.

The United States on Friday rejected an international call to abandon the use of cluster bombs, State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said.

Even if…

98% of 11,044 recorded cluster munitions casualties that are registered with Handicap International are civilians.

HIM: There, I bought you some spearmint tea.

HER: Why ??

HIM: I heard it helps women combat excess facial and body hair.

A Saudi court has ordered a drug user to spend six months memorizing the Koran, but he faces a year in prison if he fails to recite the Muslim holy book by heart.

Interesting concept. Occidental justice system could try something like this for some crimes: you can only get out when you can recite a holy book by heart. I would really be curious to see the rehabilitation potential of this method.

This is an ongoing human security project which maintains and updates the world’s only independent and comprehensive public database of media-reported civilian deaths in Iraq that have resulted from the 2003 military intervention by the USA and its allies. The count includes civilian deaths caused by coalition military action and by military or paramilitary responses to the coalition presence (e.g. insurgent and terrorist attacks).

Now that’s volunteering… !!

We kill their former leader to show them how civilized we are how things are going to improve as we are bringing this wonderful civilization in this barbarian land.

Does the UN Security Council sincerely expect to curb terrorist treats by punishing Iran to try to build up nuclear plants while Israel has nuclear weapons ? Does the UN Security Council really think they can obtain global security without global justice ?

Through the 21st century, could the nuclear waste be a bigger treat than any nuclear bomb ?

Could we see a world with a global ban on nuclear weapons (yeah, even the USA) ? Could we see a global ban on nuclear power plants ?

Right now, 50% of the US’s electricity come from coal and 20% from natural gas or petroleum. If we add the 20% coming from nuclear power, only 10% of the energy comes from a suitable, clean source.

Should the US increase their nuclear production to fight global warming ?

Saturday morning. 6AM. Thinking that Israel is on the second level of the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs while Palestine is on the first level.

Not many countries are upper than second level… Most of the poor or oppressed countries are stuck on the first level. And, these days, many rich countries are obsessed with security. Even if it’s because they don’t help poor and oppressed countries they have to face security issues.

Why can’t I sleep well Saturday morning anymore ?

The leading candidate to head the Liberal Party was defiant on Friday after opening a political can of worms with the charge that Israel committed war crimes during its Lebanon campaign this summer. That prompted angry complaints from Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper that the Liberals, who have more often than not run Canada, had taken an anti-Israel stance.

It easily can get a little confusing: how do you know if you’re against Israël and the Jewish people in general, if you’re anti-Semite ?

Here’s a little test to help:

Israël can do something wrong sometimes ?

a) Yes.

b) Every country can do bad things.

c) Well, in theory, I guess it could happen…

d) No, never, impossible.

If you answered a, b or c, you’re anti-Semite.

Now you can comment the situation in the Middle-East with the neutral opinion that everything Israel does is right.

Yesterday, I saw a documentary about Abdul Qadeer Khan. I didn’t know anything about him. Basically, he achieved to give the nuclear bomb to his country, Pakistan. Then he sold his technology to Libya, Iran and North Korea. He even tried to sell it to Saddam Hussein, but Hussein thought it was too good to be true. His international black market for nuclear technology was possibly accessible to terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda.

A nuclear proliferation in the Middle-East is totally insane, but I don’t think the risk of a nuclear terrorist attack is as scary as the cold war. One or two nuclear attacks may kill millions of people but wouldn’t destroy all human life as the cold war could have done.

Osama bin Laden ? Dead ? How ? Hijacked planes crashed in caves where he was hiding ? Camel stuffed with dynamite exploded next to him ? What ? Typhoid ?

So… We get it: typhoid is stronger than both CIA and US army.

Let’s learn a little more about typhoid:

Typhoid fever (or enteric fever) is an illness caused by the bacterium Salmonella Typhi. Common worldwide, it is transmitted by ingestion of food or water contaminated with feces from an infected person.

This may be a little lame end for the world biggest terrorist.

I really like Waiter Rant. Always great stories, well written. His last post is about an overcooked entrée. Funny, it could sound like an allegory about Irak.

Since its creation in 1948, what did Israel to be a good neighbour ?
